This six-mile float on the Willamette River takes us along the water boundary between Springfield and Eugene Oregon. This calm float takes us through protected riparian zones where wildlife and waterfowl thrive.
We take a couple of paddles with us, in case we need a little extra power, but usually, the guide keeps the raft moving with oars in the back of the boat. That way, you can kick back and relax. A few of the small rapids might splash up into your lap. If you want to get really wet, there are spots where you can jump in and float alongside the raft in your life jackets.
We start the trip at Clearwater Park and finish at Island Park in downtown Springfield. After your trip, you could enjoy a meal, craft brew, or distilled beverage at any number of local restaurants, pubs, and bars.
What is a pontoon boat anyway? It looks a bit like an inflated catamaran, two large tubes connected by a frame. You ride high and dry with a great view of the waters below and the scenery around you. It can carry up to twelve adults in comfortable padded stadium-like seating. The boat moves along with the current of the river, and the guide steers it with two very large sweep blades, one in the front and one in the back. It is, indeed, a unique craft and a unique experience.

Relax in the comfort of a McKenzie River Drift Boat as your guide deftly maneuvers through the rapids and calm pools. Unlike most rafts, the boat has a padded seat and seat back and is usually a very dry ride. The guide will point out flora and fauna, including a wide array of birds such as osprey, eagles, and many duck species as well as an occasional deer, otter, beaver, or mink. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks and beverages to enjoy during the float.
